Content standards

Firstfruits Readers welcomes Catholic, Orthodox, mainline, and evangelical authors and readers.

Firstfruits Readers is for books written within historic Christian faith as summarized in the Nicene Creed, the confession shared by Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant churches. We believe in one God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully human, born of the Virgin Mary. He was crucified, rose bodily from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven, and will come again to judge the living and the dead. The Holy Spirit is Lord and giver of life. We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.

Authors from any church that confesses this faith are welcome. A book doesn't have to be about doctrine; a novel qualifies if it's written from a perspective consistent with this faith. Books that deny these claims, such as those from Latter-day Saint or Jehovah's Witness publishers, are not a fit for this community.

Content ratings

Every book is rated none, mild, or moderate for language, violence, romance, and mature themes such as abuse, addiction, or grief. Readers can hide books above the levels they choose. Books with explicit sexual content or graphic violence aren't accepted.

Tradition

Authors tag each book Catholic, Orthodox, Mainline Protestant, Evangelical, or General Christian. Readers can filter by it or ignore it. We never ask readers about their own church.

Firstfruits Readers may decline or remove any book that doesn't fit these standards.
